I love you California

INSPIRATION: Being a third generation native Californian, the state song is one of my favorites, and oh how I love this Golden State.

ABOUT the ARTWORK: Sadly, the original artist gets no credit, that I can find, for creating the iconic art for the sheet music cover. There are only initials on the piece. NOTE to all artists: sign your work! You never know in a hundred years, it might be important. But also give credit where credit is due. This design has been used without any credit to the artist.

In my research I discovered our very own extinct California grizzly bear, Monarch. Monarch was our last grizzly bear in California. His remains are preserved and on display at the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, and was used as a model for the design of the state flag. (Scroll down to see the display below.) DON'T MISS the Jeep Commercial on YouTube, it's a treat. Be sure to click here to read the story of the state song.

I love you Calif

THE SONG was written in 1913 by Francis Silverwood, who originally started Silverwood's, a chain of high-end men's clothing stores in Los Angeles. Sadly, according to the LA Times, the stores closed in 1990 after 70 years.
