ready to work

This painting was inspired by an old black and white photo taken by Arthur Rothstein while working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA) in the 1930s and 40s --- a steelworker in Pennsylvania.

During the Great Depression there were millions out of work and homeless --- beginning with the market crash in October 1929 and not really ending until the U.S. involvement in WW II.
