This painting was inspired by an old black and white photo taken by Walker Evans, while working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA) in the 1940s on a farm in Pennsylvania.
In my painting I imagined him at work in Salinas on a foggy morning --- perhaps a character out
of a Steinbeck novel.
