Inspired by the great photographers working for the Farm Securities Administration during the Great Depression and the early 1900s. Their images in black and white show a hard life as sharecroppers.
Looking into the eyes of this young woman as I painted her, I couldn't help but repeat to myself, "So this is freedom."
I am grateful to the photographers of the day and their subjects.
So This is Freedom
