Saint Veronica and the Holy Face of Jesus - Stations of the Cross: Station VI

Station VI: In her compassion, Veronica gave her veil to Jesus to wipe His face as He labored under the weight of the Cross as He made His way to Calvary. Jesus left for her the image of His face. This is known as Veronica's Veil which is now located at the Vatican.

The name Veronica is from two words. One Latin, one Greek. Latin: vera, meaning true and the Greek: icon, meaning image.

In inscription at the bottom of the painting is in Latin: The Holy Face of Jesus.

Read about Saint Veronica and her encounter with Jesus on HIs way to Calvary and the Catholic devotion that was inspired by her Veil, the Holy Face of Jesus.

Feast Day: July 12th
