saint francis

This painting was inspired from my heart with true admiration for, undoubtably, the most beloved of all the Saints.

Saint Francis of Assisi was born in 1181, the son of a wealthy textile merchant. He spent his youth on women, drink and being a soldier. During a year he spent as a POW he heard a call from Christ to give up his wealth for a life of poverty to serve God. He founded the Franciscan Order.

One day while in meditation he received the stigmata, the physical crucifixion wounds of Jesus on his hands, feet and side. He died in 1226 and was Canonized in 1228.

Saint Francis spent his life working with his hands, caring for lepers, watching out for animals and nature and ministering to thieves to repent and follow the teachings of Christ.
