saint catherine of siena

"Cry out with a hundred thousand tongues.
I see that the world is rotten because of silence."

--Saint Catherine of Siena

Caterina Benincasa was born in 1347, in Siena, Italy. She and Saint Francis of Assisi are the patron Saints of Italy. Saint Catherine is also one of three women declared Doctors of the Church, the Doctor of Unity. She was closely connected with the Dominicans, but was not a religious of the order. Saint Catherine spent her life helping to restore the Church while tirelessly caring for the poor and the sick --- dying herself at the young age of 33.
